Background
For over 20 years James has been partnering with emerging and established clients to help them succeed. He regularly assists clients in public and private financings, mergers and acquisitions, on-going reporting and corporate governance. He frequently advises natural resources companies on commercial matters, project acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, option agreements and royalty agreements. James spent close to three years as legal counsel in the Corporate Finance Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and recently completed a two-year term with the OSC’s Securities Advisory Committee. The Committee provides advice to the OSC on a variety of matters, including legislative and policy initiatives and important capital markets trends. James currently sits on the Securities Committee of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
James has been recommended by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory (2014-2016) as one of Canada’s leading lawyers in the area of Mining Law and is recognized by The Legal 500 Canada in the area of Energy – Mining (2015, 2016) and by Chambers Global in the area of Latin America – Mining (2016).
